About Us

Welcome! There’s a pretty good possibility you’ll have a few of your questions about Sweet Tea Films answered on this very page! First of all, Sweet Tea Films is a production company, but much of this site does clue you in to our personal projects.

Who is Sweet Tea Films? Primarily, me. I’m Joel Berry. Of course behind every camera hogging dude, is an amazing gal who supports his endeavors and never wants to be in front of the camera. That’d be my wife. She’s amazing. When bigger projects arise, I bring in more folks. Often times these are the guys you see showin’ up in my videos here. On this page I’ll try to let you in on some of the recent successes.

In November of 2006 our Thanksgiving episode made it on the front page of You Tube with over 450,000 views.

Since then Tavin Dillard’s audience has grown. There are other ideas I plan to pursue, but Tavin is the primary online content that I’m putting time into. We do enter contests and we recently took 3rd place in the Nestle National Commercial Competiton through You Tube.

The Valentine’s Episode was on the front page of Revver as well as Back 2 the Basics as an Editor’s Pick. Also, on Revver our Swimming episode won for an entry in their Revver Film School Summer Episode.

Our Spring Picnic was on the front page of Acceptable TV who have partnered up with Revver and VH1.

Another episode in the Southern Samplin’ collection that made it to the front page of You Tube (this time under “mobile devices”) was Trailer Park Haircuts.

Crackle (formerly Grouper) has featured both Back 2 The Basics and Trailer Park Fashion Show on their site.

Any of my personal favorites? I enjoy Town Carnival quite a bit.

Before Tavin? Well, there was Shortstop, with that catchy tune Girl I crap my pants for you.mp3. My thesis film from grad school. It had about 10 screenings nationwide from Los Angeles to Baltimore to Georgia. Before You Tube there was a site called Urban Entertainment. I have no idea what happened to that site since 2002 or so. I signed a non-exclusive distribution deal with them to have my film screen online! At the time it wasn’t like everyone was uploading anything and everything. Shortstop is now a feature length script and once some feature length money shows up, I’d like to get it made.

After Shortstop? Well, there was Kelvin Duball. He put out such hits as Kelvin Duball’s Trailer Park Workout and also Kelvin Duball’s Trailer Park Cookout, but in between those two films was Kelvin Duball’s Big Debut, which isn’t online, but did win one Festival in Arizona.

I also write scripts. They’re not as fun to upload online and have folks read like 3 minute videos are to watch. So, that’s what happenin’ right now. Stay tuned, there are things in the works. Conversations are taking place. Of course talk is cheap they say…unless it’s long distance. Then you could run up a nasty bill!

Thanks for stopping by! Here’s a clip from 1997 when I was in college: The Mad Rooster!
